The Cast of Saved by the Bell: Where Are They Now?

Have you ever been sitting around, just daydreaming, thinking, “I wonder what’s up with the Saved by the Bell cast now?” Sure you have! Those crazy ’ kids were your pals back in the day, so why not catch up with them and see what Zack, Kelly, Lisa, and the rest of Bayside High School are doing now? This classic NBC series (a retooling of Disney’s Good Morning, Miss Bliss) was one of the best television shows of all time and featured many memorable characters. So where are the Save by the Bell and actresses now?
What’s Screech like today? How about Zack Morris, A.C. Slater, and even some of the teachers and guest stars like Ox, Max, Ginger, Ms. Wentworth, and Ms. Morris? If you’re like Mr. Belding, wondering “Hey, hey, hey, what is going on here?” when it comes to the actors who played Violet Bickerstaff, Stacey Carosi, and Tori Scott, have we got an update for you!
Find out which members of the Saved by the Bell cast wrote books (there’s quite a few), which ones starred on reality TV series (again, quite a few) and sadly, which actors are no longer with us.

Zack Morris

Zack Morris was scheming, amusing, and his friend A.C. often called him preppy.  Time out! Did we just say preppy? We meant cool and charming. He is also fondly remembered for introducing the world to those Zack Morris brick phones.
Gosselaar’s character was spun off into a short-lived Disney sitcom, Good Morning, Miss Bliss. In 2001, Gosselaar joined the cast of NYPD Blue and played Detective John Clark for four years. In 2010, he joined the TNT series Franklin & Bash.
Gosselaar revealed during an interview that he dated his three female co-stars while Saved by the Bell was in production. He married former model, Lisa Ann Russell, in 1996 and they had two children. In 2011, the couple divorced and in 2012, Gosselaar married advertising executive Catorina McGinn. They have a son together.

A.C. Slater

Bayside High’s star athlete, A.C. was the quarterback of the football team, an excellent wrestler and was even seen on the basketball team in one episode. Best friends with Zack, A.C. was originally written as a rival for Kelly Kapowski’s affection. He eventually become’s Zack’s friend and developed a strong attraction to Jessie Spano, who often criticized him for his insensitive remarks.
Lopez took some time off after all the Saved by the Bell spin-offs before returning in 1997 to star as Olympic diver Greg Louganis in a TV about the legendary athlete. In 2006, he joined The Bold and the Beautiful and in the fall of that year, signed on as a contestant on Dancing with the Stars. He would finish in second place, losing to Emmitt Smith.
Lopez has also served as host on a number of shows including The X-Factor’s Best Dance Crew, and  Extra. He is married to Broadway dancer Courtney Mazza and has two kids, a daughter born in September 2010 and a son born in September 2013.

Samuel ‘Screech’ Powers

Screech was the school nerd at Bayside High. He was best friends with Zack since kindergarten and was extremely loyal to him. In exchange for doing Zack’s homework and tagging along on his various schemes, Zach protected him from school bullies. Despite his belief that he was a ladies man, the other students made fun of his eccentricities. He was goofy, clumsy, and very smart, and had an unrequited love for Lisa Turtle.

Dustin Diamond

Following Saved by the Bell, Diamond appeared in a number of movies like Pauly Shore is Dead and Dickie Roberts: Former Child Star. In 2006, he directed and released his own sex tape (though he later said a stunt double was used). Diamond also began doing stand up comedy and toured once Saved ended.
He has also appeared in a number of reality TV shows and in 2009, he published a behind the scenes book about the cast and crew of Saved by the Bell from his point of view. The book mentions unflattering and sordid events that his colleagues refuted. Diamond later admitted the book was ghost written and parts of it were fabricated. He is also the bass player for his band called Salty the Pocketknife.
More recently, Diamond was arrested for stabbing a man in a Christmas Day 2014 brawl at a bar in Wisconsin. Though there’s no definitive proof our man Screech brandished the knife that injured another man, prosecutors believe there is enough evidence to proceed to trial.

Lisa Turtle

The fashionista and gossiper of Bayside High, Lisa was friends with Zack since grade school. There was also some suggestion that she had a small crush on him. One of the running gags of the show was Screech’s unsuccessful attempts to woo Lisa, who often responded to him with insults and jokes.
Following Saved, Voorhies guest starred on The Bold and the Beautiful in 1995 but was released a year later when she refused to act in sex scenes, citing her religious beliefs as a Jehovah’s Witness. She returned in 2004 for a brief stint.
Voorhies also guest starred on Star Trek: Deep NineFamily Matters, and The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Since 2010, Voorhies has written three books. Her book True Light is infamous for having been written with commas after almost every word.

Mr. Richard Belding

Hey, hey, hey, hey, what is going on here? Bayside High School principal Mr. Belding’s catch phrase, that’s what. Known for his high-pitched laugh and frequent run-ins with Zack, Mr. Belding genuinely seemed to care what his students, especially Zack, thought about him.
In August 2009, Haskins released his first music album called Karaoke With Your Favorite Principal Dennis on which he sings “California Dreamin’,” “Brown Eyed Girl,” “Georgia,”  and “Mustang Sally” (a duet with Hulk Hogan’s daughter Brooke). Haskins has also continued to guest star on TV series and in movies and had a role in A Million Ways to Die in the West as the Snake Oil Salesman.

Jessie Spano

Lifelong friend of Zack, Screech, Lisa, and Kelly, Jessie was possibly the smartest person in their group of friends. She lived next door to Zack and was regularly visited by him when he climbed through her bedroom window. Jessie was a strong feminist and though intelligent, she did have a bit of a neurotic streak.
Berkley quickly followed her Saved by the Bell stint by starring in Paul Verhoeven’s NC-17 film Showgirls as exotic dancer Nomi Malone. She married artist Greg Lauren in late 2003 and made her Broadway debut opposite Richard Dreyfus in 2004 in Sly Fox. She has guest starred on TV series including CSI: MiamiNYPD BlueWithout a Trace, and Law & Order: Criminal Intent.
In 2006, Berkley also began an online self-help program for teen , called Ask-Elizabeth. In July 2012, Berkley gave birth to her first child, a son, born eight days before her 40th birthday.

Kelly Kapowski

The most popular girl at Bayside High, Kelly was the lead cheerleader and captain of the volleyball, swim, and softball teams. She was Zack’s love interest as well as a good student, though she could be a bit of an airhead at times.
Following Saved, Thiessen landed the role of Valerie Malone on  Beverly Hills, 90210, after Shannen Doherty left. She also appeared in films including  From Dusk Til Dawn 2NewsRadioTwo Guys and a Girl,and Good Morning, Miami.  In 2009, she began a recurring role on the USA Network series White Collar as Elizabeth Burke. Thiessen married actor Brady Smith in 2005 and gave birth to their daughter in June 2010.


Max was the owner of, yup, The Max, a local hangout where he often gave advice to kids of Bayside. He was also a skilled magician.
Alonzo continues to work as comedian and professional magician and has worked with some of the biggest names in the music industry. In 2009, he worked with Britney Spears to create illusions for her tour and was one of the magicians working on Michael Jackson’s This Is It concerts. Alonzo also has a show at Knotts Halloween Haunt called Ed Alonzo’s Psycho Circus of Magic and Mayhem.

Tori Scott

Tori was the new girl and eventual girlfriend of Zack during the final season of the show. She was a tough girl who rode a motorcycle.
Creel began acting in the late 80s, and when her Saved stint ended, she attended UCLA, earning B.A. in history and then a Master’s degree in film and television. She produced her first film in 1994 and now runs Creel Studio, a production studio specializing in food, , and lifestyle content.
Creel is also an award-winning photographer. She married partner Rinat Greenberg in June 2008, when California legalized same-sex marriages, and gave birth to two sons, in 2008 and 2013.


A member of the Bayside football team, Ox was the stereotypical dumb jock. He tagged along with Slater and despite being considered a dumb jock, he dated a female nerd and was often shown to be gentler and more sensitive than expected.
Fromin had bit parts in a few TV series post- Saved, the most notable of which was on Married with Children. He stopped acting after 1999 but returned in the 2000s, with projects scheduled to release between 2015 and 2017. He also runs a YouTube and a  Vimeo channel where he uploads skits, rants, and messages to fans.

Leon Carosi

Leon Carosi was the uptight owner and manager of the Malibu Sands Beach Club where the main Bayside characters (except for Lisa) worked summer jobs.
Despite his recurring Saved by the Bell role, Sabella is best known for being the voice of Pumbaa from The Lion King. He also appeared on That’s So RavenThe PracticeQuantum Leap, and was the naked man on the 1992 Seinfeld episode, “The Subway.”

Stacey Carosi

Stacey was the daughter of Malibu Sands Beach Club owner Leon Carosi. Though she was initially annoyed by Zack’s West Coast lifestyle, they later developed romantic feelings for each other and had to hide their relationship from Leon. Their relationship ended when Stacey returned to New York for school.
Remini’s most famous role to date is that of Carrie Heffernan on the CBS sitcom The King of Queensfrom 1998 to 2007. Following that show, she was one of the co-hosts on the CBS daytime talk show, The Talk before being fired in 2011.
In July 2014, Remini starred with her husband, Puerto Rican salsa musician Angelo Pagan, on a reality TV show titled Leah Remini: It’s All Relative.

Violet Bickerstaff

Though her weren’t happy about it, Violet was Screech’s girlfriend. Their attitude toward him changed when he helped Violet save face at a singing recital. Violet appeared in five episodes of the show.
Spelling is best known for her role as Donna Martin on Beverly Hills, 90210. She also starred in a string of indie films including The House of YesTrick, and Cthulhu. She reprised her Donna Martin role in 2009 on the CW spin-off 90210. She also released an autobiography in 2009 that debuted at the top of the New York Times best seller list.
She married actor Dean McDermott in 2006 and the couple has four children and seven seasons of their reality series Tori & Dean. Spelling has written six books as well.


Ginger was the overly sweet and slightly ditzy blonde who dated Zack a few times until she annoyed him. Ginger was a girly girl who wore a lot of pink, brightly colored clothing and was always happy.
Following her brief Saved stint, Wilson starred in Billy Madison as Veronica Vaughn, Elsa Shivers in I Know What You Did Last Summer and Sonya Blade in Mortal Kombat. Wilson starred in the off-Broadway production of The Rocky Horror Show and was a judge for the 2006 Miss Universe competition.
In September 2000, Wilson married professional player Pete Sampras and had two sons, Christian in 2002 and Ryan in 2005. Wilson has not acted since 2008.

Ms. Wentworth

Ms. Wenworth was the social studies teacher during Zack’s sophomore year at Bayside High. She got Zack interested in his family heritage and was one of the school’s more enthusiastic and unorthodox teachers. Like Mr. Tuttle, she seemed to genuinely care about Zack and was popular with the other students.
Now 82, Lawrence is often associated with musical theater despite her many television appearances. She was famously married to actor/singer Robert Goulet (her second husband) from 1963-1981 and has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Coach Sonski

The overweight and testosterone crazed wrestling coach at Bayside High, Coach Sonski appeared in two episodes. He depended on Slater as his star athlete and was the school’s auto shop instructor. Though he maintained a macho attitude, he confessed to watching Oprah because he was “sensitive to dames.”
Sadly, Hoffman died in 2013 at the age of 60. Hoffman’s acting career spanned 30 years with appearances on TV series including  Curb Your EnthusiasmEverybody Loves RaymondFamily Matters, and a three-year stint on The Drew Carey Show, playing multiple roles. He also voiced Judd Apatow’s alter ego in the movie  .
