NBA star Lamar Odom fell into a coma
after an accidental overdose at a Las Vegas brothel in October 2015. Odom’s ex-wife, Khloe Kardashian, immediately flew to his bedside, despite the fact that the two had officially divorced earlier in the year.
According to inside sources, doctors found crack cocaine and “virtually every drug imaginable” in the athlete’s system. They suspected he may have suffered an ischemic stroke, which is often associated with drug use. Doctors predicted that he may have brain damage as a result.
Black Sabbath frontman Ozzy Osbourne almost died in an ATV accident in 2003. He suffered from a broken collarbone, eight fractured ribs that pinched several blood vessels, and a damaged vertebrae in his neck. He says, “The bloody thing nearly killed me. I am lucky to be here today and not paralyzed.” He was in a coma for eight days following the accident.
Burt Reynolds almost died when he was trying to kick a drug addiction. He slipped into a coma for eight hours, and he says that he could hear doctors saying, “We’re losing him.”
In 2001, Sharon Stone nearly died from a brain aneurysm, and she even claims that she saw the “white light.” She was in a coma for nine days after the incident.
In 2013, Lil Wayne reportedly slipped into a medically induced coma after experiencing a series of seizures caused by his epilepsy.
In 1994, Nirvana singer Kurt Cobain went into a coma after he overdosed on a combination of champagne and Rohypnol. He survived the incident, but committed suicide later that same year.
Martin Lawrence almost died after suffering heat stroke in 1999.The comedian was wearing several layers of clothing while jogging in the heat in an attempt to lose weight for a role. When he returned home, he had a temperature of 107. Lawrence was rushed to the hospital where he slipped into a coma for three days.
In 1988, Gary Busey was involved in a horrible motorcycle accident. Busey suffered from a cracked skull, and doctors thought he might have permanent brain damage. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. He was in a coma for 33 days because of the accident.
In 1993, Stevie Wonder was involved in a car crash that left him in a coma for four days.
In 1967, stunt man Evel Knievel made a failed attempt to jump over the fountain at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas on his motorcycle. He suffered extensive injuries and was in a coma for 29 days following the crash.
Grateful Dead guitarist Jerry Garcia went into a diabetic coma in 1985. He remained in the coma for five days.
Racecar driver Michael Schumacher was in a coma after being involved in a ski accident in late 2013.
In 2013, actress Shayne Lamas was in a coma for almost two weeks after complications with an emergency surgery threatened her life. Sadly, her unborn baby did not survive the surgery.
In 2012, musician Seth Binzer was in a coma for several days after nearly overdosing on a combination of drugs.
